Victoria Church Plant: Who we are becoming...
These are exciting times for us as we move forward describing who we feel God is calling us to be. Read on for some of these inital ideas regarding vision, mission and values.
The Long Term Goal
We hope to launch a church planting movement that so permeates greater Victoria with the Gospel of Christ that it is transformed spiritually, socially, and culturally.
Our Mission
To become a network of Christian communities united in common worship and mission whose purpose is to gather (in worship), equip (for life), and send (in mission) to bless and change the world. To reveal Christ in common life.
The Vision
We want to become two (or three) Christian communities who come together twice a month for common worship and gather regularly in neighborhood community/life groups in order to serve and bless our neighbors.
Our Core Values
We long to be Christ-focused/Word-centered, for apart from the living Christ proclaimed in Scripture there is no hope.
We long for spiritual in-breaking when we meet, for it is only through the activity and presence of God that there is transformation, genuine worship, and divine life.
We long for sacrificial fellowship, since Christ revealed the cost of love and the Holy Spirit empowers us to live this out with one another.
We long for every-member ministry, since all Christians form the body of Christ with each member using their gifts for His mission to the world.
We long to creatively engage with God, one another, creation, and culture, since we reflect the image of the God who creates, renews, and restores.
We long for an inward-growing faith, that we might internalize the truths of Scripture and grow in our knowledge of the living God through study, prayer, community, sacraments, and personal devotion.
We long for an out-reaching love, for apart from authentic, active service there is no true religion.
